I dropped my battery pack and i am wondering if that is the reason why i am not able to turn on my pc. thank you in advance.
Are you talking about a laptop? If you've dropped the battery and now the laptop won't turn on, I guess it doesn't take a scientist to know what the problem is.
it depends on how hard you dropped it. batteries for laptops are a LOT harder than they seem. Are you sure it's not charging or plugged in? Do you have the cord set up right? is there a crack anywhere on the battery? If the battery is damaged then prepare to pay for a new one. There not cheap. (unless you think 100 dollars is cheap)
There is no definite answer on how long they will last. That depends on the brand of laptop and those very rare desktops that can run on a battery. Seeing that yours was dropped, you more than likely broke something from the impact. So, it's time for a new battery.
If you are talking about a Notebook/Laptop a battery in full working order usually lasts around 2-3 hours. Dropping a Battery is not usually a good idea. It may need replacing.
Your laptop should turn on just fine when plugged into the wall, if you don't have a battery in the unit. If you have the battery you dropped, in the laptop and it is plugged into the wall and it still won't turn on, then that is your proof that you need to replace the battery. However, as I said, the laptop should work just fine without a battery, when it is plugged in. if it doesn't work when plugged in AND there is no battery in the unit then I'd think you dropped the laptop, and not the battery.
