Question:

How long will unrefrigerated limes last?

Surprisingly, I wasn't able to find the answer to this question online, so I'm asking it here. How long will unrefrigerated, uncut, store-bought limes last? They're for an art project, so by quot;lastquot; I mean quot;not show black moldy growth/stay green.quot; If it makes a difference, they'll be out in the desert of Nevada (Black Rock Desert). Thanks!

Answer:

Panama’s Seviche 1 pound fillets of corvina,or tilapia juice from a dozen limes, more if necessary 3 medium size tomatoes, chopped fine 3 onions, chopped fine 2 hot peppers, (remove part of it after it has set about 2 hours) 1 green pepper, chopped fine 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley salt and pepper to taste Place fillets on a platter. Mix the remaining ingredients and spread over the fish, making sure it is completely covered. Let it set for a few minutes and then turn the fillets over so both sides of the fish are well marinated. Cover platter and place in refrigerator. Turn the fish several times. Can be eaten after 8 hours.
Lime in Coconut and Martini drink
I like to squeeze lime on my fish to give it a tropical flavor. I also like to put in to fajita meat before being wrapped into the tortialla. Lime is also good on seafood.. Tequila Lime shrimp is yummy. Then of course there is key lime pie.. I cook alot and tend to play around with seasonings and spices. Most places that call for lemon can be replaced with lime, however limes are a bit more tart, so beware of the pucker factor. Lime ( citrus in general) is used for ceviche where the acid in the juice actaully cooks the fish without applying heat. Make sure if you do this that your fish is very FRESH> good luck
Isn't the lime in the coconut a song on an advert? Doesn't sound like it would make you feel better I'm sure the acid from the lime would work against the coconut milk and create a disgusting concoction. But anyway the lime in the coconut is a sauce which you can now buy from the shops, im sure it would taste good though. I always use lime on fish, .......................i'm more a lemon women than a lime.
I like near ice cold diet coke poured over lime slices in a frosted glass. In the summer, it is near heaven. Otherwise, I am simple. I do like limeade from frozen in the summer and I am not a key lime pie fan at all.
