Question:

How loud do you have to be to set off car alarms?

If you‘re driving 30 miles an hour and you have a ford explorer let‘s say, so you have a truck with the sub box in it. 2 subs. 12 inch. 4.4 cubic foot sealed box. Sonys. Alpine pd 1600 mono amplifier

Answer:

the lower the frequency the more likely it will set off car alarms, so low nots might. i run 1kw rms and that doesnt, you can feel mine easily in cars parked next to me to
most likely one of the links have poppet of.
It's got nothing to do with how loud the stereo is, rather the frequency that it puts out at that given time to vibrate the car alarm sensor enough to set it off. An example would be : I have 2 10's that are loud as hell but they won't set off alarms. A 15 inch sub would more likely set it off as the frequencies travel further and are deeper which will more easily vibrate the sensor.
I had a 95 cavalier with 2 mtx 8000's sealed 1.25 cubic foot enclosure per sub with only 275 watts that would set off car alarms all the time that was back in 2001-02. now i'm running 3000 watts and 4 L7's 1.6 cubes ported in a 01 grand prix and have not set off any alarms. This system is 8 db higher but a much higher frequency. 32 hz versus 39 hz. depends a lot on car and system setup.
