No you don't.Most carmen never drive anything bigger than a pickup truck.Like Samurai said it could be a plus on a resume though.Many maintenance of way guys have CDL's for the trucks they have to drive.
You dont need a CDL unless you are going to be driving a truck for themIf you are working in a car shop you dont need a CDL, or even a driver's license for that matter.
