IM just asking because I find it hard to believe lightweight aluminum and PLASTIC can cost you 30kI've seen the new toyotas and there so weak feeling because there stirofoam on the inside and light aluminumAlso alot of cars are not using metal anymore but plastics like the wheel covers on jeep wranglersI just find it hard to believe there so expensiveThat's why I'm most likely going to get a old Toyota truck
It is not the materials that cost so muchIt's the machines, tools, labor, and robots that make them and shape them into a carAs well as the permits, shipping, property taxes for factory, overhead costs, etcThat is the expensive part They are switching to aluminum and plastic to make their cars lighter so that they can get better fuel efficiencyThere is a demand for more features in a car such as bluetooth, GPS, 6 disk CD changer, power everything, heated seatsAll that adds lots of weightTo keep gas mileage good, they have to use lighter materials like more plastics and aluminum.
