Question:

how much ice is needed to support a bulldozer?

we need to get bulldozer off island on the frozen lake. Need to know how much ice will support that kind of weight. Bulldozer must weight about 1600 pounds

Answer:

your weight is soooo wrong. Even a small bobcat weighs 4500 pounds!
The bulldozer only weighs 1600 pounds? If so, 8-12 of ice will reportedly support it, although I'd feel much safer with at least 2-3 feet. I suggest you try to verify the dozer's weight beforehand!
