26,116 tons of taconite pellets were loaded at Superior, Wisconsin on November 9, 1975. The ship sank November 10, 1975. P.S. It's name was the STEAMER (Str.) EDMUND FITZGERALD. Launched in 1958, owned by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, the ship was operated by Columbia Transportation.
