Question:

How much should I expect Phenom II's to drop because of the new Bulldozer's?

I'm somewhat new to PC gaming and I have no estimate on how rapidly prices will drop on the Phenom II Processors during Bulldozer release. Should they go down instantly or slowly in a couple of months, and how much would they go down? By $25, $50, or even $100?

Answer:

By $25
They probably won't drop much. Seeing how Bulldozer is going to be AMD's high end CPU that's meant to compete with Intel's high end i7's. Right now AMD doesn't have anything that can compete with Intel's fast Sandy Bridge quad cores and Gulftown hexacores. Bulldozer will compete with them and will be priced accordingly. So the current line up of Phenom II quad an hexacores won't be impacted much since they really only compete with the older Nehalem CPU's.
They won't drop instantly or much at all, if you look, the athlon quad core processors still cost close to as much as the phenom ii ones. They might drop 10% in a few months, any further noticable drop will take a long time.
