Question:

How to connect AC sensor and motor to PLC?

Hi, I have a 3 wire AC sensor and a 3 wire AC motor, but I'm not sure on how to connect them to my PLC, which has 2 input cards and 2 output cards. For the sensor, do I connect it like this?:-quot;neutralquot; wire to the quot;commonquot; of one of the output cards -quot;inputquot; wire to an quot;outputquot; of the output card-quot;outputquot; wire of the sensor to an quot;inputquot; of one of the input cardsFor the motor, do I connect it like this?:-quot;linequot; wire to the quot;commonquot; of one of the output cards-quot;CCW (counter-clockwise)quot; wire to an quot;outputquot; of the output card-quot;CW (clockwise)quot; wire to another quot;outputquot; of the output cardThanks for any help on this.

Answer:

STOP! You do not connect the motor to the output card. A typical connection would be like this... An output fires when instructed. The output controls the coil of a starter. The motor is wired through the starter as appropriate. The motor can draw significant current, beyond what the output card is capable of handling (generally very low current). I assume the motor has 3 wires to make connection easier, it is really a 2 wire motor as only 2 connected wires make it run. So the connection would be the neutral to the neutral in your system, and the correct directional wire through the aforementioned starter, or relay if it is a small motor. What exactly is the sensor you mention? A Proximity sensor? I have to know more about the sensor. Typically the sensor is wired to power and has an output that is wired to the input board. email me for more detailed help.
If this incredibly IS an AC motor and has 3 wires, it is 3 section. If it is an AC motor single section, a million of the wires is for yet another purpose e.g. capacitor connection. So in spite of if this is marked brushless, it can be a three-section variety airplane variety motor, which will require its mating velocity controller/ 3- section (battery or DC fed) controller. the different threat is you have a three- cord laptop brushless DC fan motor, 2 are for connection to DC, and the third. is a rotation affirmation sign cord. greater desirable. Transformers output AC. A motor working as a generator can't probable develop its voltage. i'm satisfied you have not suggested joule thief''' this time. you nonetheless have not mentioned precisely what you're attempting to realize, or possibly that's the initiating of yet another variety new false impression re electrics/ electronics?
