Question:

How to drease the density of plastic ?

I want to make a small solid plastic float with a small magnet in it. The float with the magnet should float on the water. Which plastic material/Granules should be used. It should be of very low density. Maximum operating Temperature is 70 degree C. What should be done. Please help.

Answer:

It would only sink if were denser than water, not the same, plus it is hard to fill a jug to the absolute top so there may be a little air. Also, the density of the platic itself is less than water, so even if it filled to the very top, the combined density of the plastic jug plus the water in it will be less than the equivalent volume of water, so it is not surprising that it floats.
can you attach a small float to it ? or make the main float bigger ?
Polyurethane Foam magnetic float switches are available. You have to use a foamed plastic to reducedensity.
Put the magnet at the centre of the plastic float and try to increase the surface area once you have gotten the best low density plastic material. Try to make it a bit curved. The common error when making floats with plastic is that they make boats that are flat, so try to curve it a bit like a boats bottom.
