An electric water heater draws 20 A rms at 240 V rms and is purely resistive. A large AC motor has the same current and voltage, but inductance causes the voltage to lead the current by 20 degrees.
The water heater power is 240*20 = 4800 W The Motor Power is V*I*cosθ = 4800*cos20? = 4510 W
