My garage door would stop by itself. And when i push the remote control, it would comtinue to close. Before, if i push the remote button twice, the door would reverse in the direction it was going. So it is probaly not the remote. Any ideas??

No it is not, and actually it is not really attracted to anything. Metal and water are just good conductors of electricity, which is the idea behind lightning rods and such. Lightning is a result of two oppositely charged channels making contact with each other, and objects such as buildings, trees, lightning rods, etc. just allow the charge to flow easier.
