Question:

How to get metal scratches out of a porcelain tub?

I am furious at the maidThere is a shower chair in the tubIt's legs are made out of aluminum tubing with suction cups on the bottomThe maid took the chair out of the tub and removed the suction cups from the bottom of the legs but she did not replace the suction cups when she put the shower chair back in the porcelain bath tub. When the health aid came to bathe a handicapped house member, she was unaware that the suction cups on the chair legs were missingShe did not realize that the friction of a person sitting on the chair was causing horrible black scratch marks on OUR BRAND NEW PORCELAIN tub.The tub was scratched but the surface is still smooth as can beThe scratches are quite noticeable and are black/dark grayI have not used anything other than a MrClean Eraser, which had zero results in removing or even fading the marksIs there some sort of chemical or abrasive that can remove these scratches that you may know of?Help, please.

Answer:

When aluminum is slid under pressure, it leaves a black powdered aluminum residue that looks like a black streakUse something like Boami or silver polish ( a very fine abrasive ) to remove the aluminum residue without harming the porcelain under it.
