Question:

How to get smells namely tabacco out of a sofa?

My husband smokes and while lying on our sofa the last week I realised how bad it smells. I can't really take off the cushion covers to wash them as they are not meant to be washed and I need to know how to get the rest of the sofa smell free. It is totally gross.

Answer:

Spray your sofa with vinegar and water. The vinegar will absorb the odors. Also, place small bowls of vinegar throughout the house to get rid of odors.
Try calling a professional upholstery cleaner. They might be able to get most of the odor out. Smoke odor never really comes completely out! Good luck!
You can get anti tabbacco shake, oust is a air freshner which eliminates the smells rather than covering them up, try bicarbonate of soda just shake some on the sofa or any where else it smells leave for 30 minutes and hoover the bicarbonate of soda off it, it should smell.... well clean.
Do this...it will work. Go buy Odo-Ban from Sam's club and use it in a rug shampooer, even if you must rent one. After it dries, that should do the trick. Step two, if step one isn't enough, and sometimes it's not. Get Nature's Miracle from a pet store and saturate the sofa. It eats enzymes from pet odors. It stinks while it's wet, but when it is dry, your dogs won't even know there was a dog there. This works better than professional cleaning, plus it's cheaper. Good luck. Edited to add: Febreze won't work on a job this big. It just won't. You need to REMOVE the odor, so neither will covering it with various scented products. You must get those pet enzymes OUT. Or, sell the darn thing and but a better used one.
