Question:

How to make brownies Christmas-y?

I'm making brownies for my cousins as a little holiday giftHow can I decorate them to make them seem Christmas-y? (Please don't recommend something with TOO much candy cane, they don't really care for them much).

Answer:

After frosting the brownies with white frosting, take your smallest of cookie cutters and place them on top and fill in with colored sugars (will show you how to make your own at the end of my answer.) Or you can even CUT cookie cutter shapes out of the brownies when they're done: Hintplace in freezer for 20 minutes AFTER brownies come out of oven and are completely cooledThis way they won't crumble as much when you're cutting them ;)Then you can frost as cookies (use food colors to tint frosting).OR For making your own colored sugars to sprinkle on cookies, cakes, etc: Take an empty jar with a lid.add 1/3 cup white sugar try about 5 drops of food coloringShake it all up until it's all coatedThen lay it all out on a piece of aluminum foil paper that's been creased in half to dry overnightThis way when sugar is dry, you can easily fold the foil pour into a sealed container to keep(If you have kept any spice jars that are clean have the holes for sprinkling, these work)Read the box the food colors come in to come up with your own shades-or just experiment with how many drops you want to use (or combination of colors)Using a plastic food baggie filled with frosting, snipped off a bit at a corner makes a good piping bag to decorate the brownies, too.
The reason I do not use UNDER the Tank Heaters is due to some incidents that went badly in the past and the reptiles that i use heating pads for now, I stick to the side of the tank on the same side as the tank that i use as the basking area, where the reptile (Snake or lizard) can go to rub and get extra warmthAnd also, when you stick a heating pad on the side of a tank, it's permanent, you remove it, and it will no longer workI put as far down to the edge of tank to corner as it will goVery simple for heat source, This is what i use for the newer smaller reptiles/snakes, I use the dual heating lamps that are attached to the same lamp head , you can get at petcoAnd use a red and white bulbThey are both on during the day, and i cut off the white (Hotter bulb) at night, so the red one provides some light and less heatI have the dual lamp on the left side of the tank to keep it the hottest for the basking area where the heating pad on the side is also placedI keep 2 thermometers, one on each side of tank to keep an eye on heatAround 85 on his basking side during the day, and 70 at nightYou can also just buy the kit, when you go to the pet store they can help you outAlso those Dual lamps you can buy a stand for 30 to hang it onI rig my own, if you need to know how to do that, email meI buy a few items, a screw driver, and a few clips from the dollar store, and wa la !
