Question:

How to make tinfoil hard and hold a shape?

I am trying to make some cheap decorations for a halloween party. Here's my ideaBuy a cheap plastic skullTake tin foil and mold it around the skull then carefully peel it off so it retains the skull shapeSpray the tin foil with something to keep it stiff (and make the decorations transportable)Then spray the skulls with ivory spray paintMaybe antique them a bit with antinquing gel or tea staining. So, any clue what I could spray the tin foil with to make it harder? Like a spray plastic or spray foam? Any idea on the antiquing bit so they don't look totally flat?

Answer:

the goal is the have a shape that takes up a lot of space in the waterYou want the foil to push away so much water that the water it pushes away (displaces) weighs more than the penniesThe two simplest strategies will be to make either a boat where the bottom looks like a V, or a barge with a flat bottomand low sides, so that the surface area is very greatTry experimenting in your tub or sink.
origamiyou can find instructions onlineu don't even need origami paper u can use a small square of gift wrap
