Question:

How to remove old gasket from aluminum intake manifold?

I have tried using some wd-40 with limited results (haven't given it time to work I am too busy at the moment)I have also tried using a blade which I found out is a big no no, so how do you remove old gaskets.

Answer:

Pull off as much as you canThen use a Stanley knife blade to scrape the rest offMake sure that you hold it at a shallow angle so that it can't dig into the aluminiumRazor blades are too dangerous for this sort of job because you might have to put some of force into it to remove the more stubbornly stuck bitsIt will come off more easily if you leave it in a tub with a mixture of diesel and oil in it for a day or twoDiesel will do quite well by itself without the oil too.
