Anyone know a good site or would be able to tell me everything I would need to get,to get into making a saltwater fish tank?
Yes. Compression fittings for copper were available long before other pipe materials. I prefer soldering copper but if the pipe is in an area where it can be seen at all times, you can use compression fittings for hot and cold applications. You do not need anything on the threads.
Plumbing Compression Fittings
Buy books Saltwater tank books from your local pet store. It's a more reliable source for people who are saltwater aquarium beginners, rather than the internet. Because that way, you know that you are getting the right information. Saltwater tanks also tend to be expensive and hard to take care of, so keep that in mind, too. Good luck!
The compression fitting will work. They tend to go out in a relatively short amount of time, so you will be making the same repair in about a year. I recommend going to Home Depot or Ace Hardware to buy what they call a Shark Bite. Much better than a compression fitting and very easy to install without soldering. You will only find them at either of those 2 store or at a plumbing supply house.
