Question:

how was iron industry in olden times?

how iron was made?how was it found?importance of iron.

Answer:

You dig it (the ore) out of the ground, melt it down and make things with it that you want to last. You really had to ask that question?
That depends on your definition of olden times At the beginning of the Iron Age, Iron was smelted by the person doing it, just placing the iron ore into a hot fire and surrounding it with burning coals. When the fire burned out, they had some iron ore slag left which the blacksmith then hammered down into whatever form that was needed. Iron ore occurs naturally. and has a very charasteric color from the Iron Oxide that makes it easy to recognize. The importance of iron, during the Iron Age was to make weapons that were more durable than the bronze or copper weapons being used by others. Iron can take a finer point and will keep it longer. It was the Hittites that discovered how to smelt Iron and how to use it for making swords and arrow/spear points and this made them nearly invincible in war. as the Egyptians found out to their sorrow. Eventually, Iron was used to make many building materials because of it's strength and was a natural for railroads and building skeleton structures.
