i am an ectomorph, and a lot of workouts i see require barbells, could i sub in dumbells?

i go to the ymca and they dont have barebells that i have seen, is there a way i can substitue in dumbells for exercises like-skull crushers-barbell rows-standing barbells-barbell squatsand still get good results? thank you

scoobys home bodybuilding site is pretty much devoted to dumbbells and bodyweight exercises. it's all on video too. so just watch and then repeat the exercises at the Y. can you get good results? scooby is 6'3, about 230lbs and 8% bodyfat.
You dont need barbells.I would give you an alternative using dumbbell for each exercise if you need more email me. skull crushers alternative 2 arm dumbbell overhead extention barbell rows alternative dumbbell 1 arm row standing barbell by that do you mean barbell curl if so alternate dumbbell curl barbell squats you can also use dumbbell squats or do lunges. Also as an ectomorph you are a hard gainer you need to eat lots of food.Since i dont know how old you are or without knowing your current body fat percentage i cant give you a number of calories. But try to eat at least 20x calories than your body weight.For example if you weigh 100lbs eat 2000 calories.And for carbs 1.5 times your body weight which is 150 for example and protein around 1x body weight 100gms.
