Question:

i am considering a Career in real estate?

watspn realty has a course for about 3 weeks.. around 300 dollars.. the local community college has a course for 2 yr.. will cost a lot more.. which would be better and why would a real estate company offer one for only a fraction of the time and cost as the school would.. what to agents make

Answer:

The market is harder than it was. If you have someone to help cover the bills and maybe a bit more to help you get started that's one thing. If you know a lot of people that is another point in your favor. There are ways to get into the business now and make a good living but, the other people are right for most people it will be tough. Now to answer you questions-depending on the state that you are living in-some require college hours towards your real estate license some don't. The company offers the classes to be able to recruit agents because they get maybe half of everything you make! It's in the company's best interest to train you do it well and then benefit from your profits; see how it works? This business is different from many others. In this business YOU should be doing the interview and the hiring of the broker! You will be in business with them so choose well! and carefully! Don't just pick the one that you like the best! They may have a great bedside manner and lousy work skills! Think doctor! That's who you are looking for the Broker with the best skills so that you learn from the best. Good luck
People that say run are not agents. They were ban wagon people who thought real estate would be a way for them to make a ton of money. Joke is on them, they jumped in made money, over extended themselves and now are running for the hills. It makes me laugh. Real real estate agents are doing just fine. Its the ones who took it as a part time joke that are suffering. If you join and treat it as a business just like any other job, you will be fine. If you join and work 15 hrs per week, like most full time agents you will fail. A monkey could do this job the last 5 years, and now the monkeys are dropping out. This means more business for real agents, and I love it. I can tell you no matter what the market is doing, the people who work, make money and lots of it. Don't listen to the negitive people if you are going to work hard. If you plan on working half ***, well stay away because you will go belly up.
Do NOT try to sell real estate for the next 3 years. This is the WORST time to become a Realtor. I started 4 years ago and had a GREAT run, but now it's HORRIBLE.
Take the company's course. All you need is to get your license and the company will train you. You can always change companies once you learn the ropes. I disagree with everyone. Now is an excellent time to buy real estate and if you believe that then you can represent buyers. I started in a market like this and have been through 3 cycles. The people that made alot of money the last 5 years won't be working and you can shine. Go for it.
A Realtor generally works for a real estate company. The real estate company watspn realty will make money if you go work for them. There may be a contract to sign if you go in there course. They will advertise their company to you as you attend the course. I am not in real estate so you should go talk to someone who is in real estate. If you want to be wealthy, talk to someone who became wealthy from real estate. They are more approachable than you think. I would go with the course and start selling right away. By the time you finish your college course, you will be 2 years ahead financially and have more practical experience. Donald Trump says now is the time to get into real estate. You can be a real estate agent or you can buy and sell homes like an investor. Investors have a higher risk and also make more money.
