For the best skiing it would probably be Cervinia. For apres ski, picturesque resort, and non skiers I am not sure. Also people with children, and other special needs may find other resorts more suitable. I have stayed in Sauze d'Oulx and found the resort to be very welcoming. The skiing in the milky way is quite extensive, however there is not much challenge if you are beyond intermediate skiing ability. As for the best months to go, it really depends on your criterion of judgement. There are many criterion like weather, snow conditions, price, queues, whether there are local holidays etc etc. The best answer is the one which is tailored to your specific circumstances. A good ski tour operator will know which resorts are suitable for your particular needs, if they know some details about who you are and who you are going skiing with.
