Question:

I can't swallow pills. Is it okay if I crush the pill and mix it with food to take the medication?

Also, do they sell pill crushers?

Answer:

It depends what kind of pill. Some pills have special time release capsules so that the medication doesn't all flow out at the same time. Those are the types of pills that you should not be crushing. Make sure you read the instructions that came with the medication. Yes they do sell pill crushers. It looks like a bowl and weird hammer type spoon. We used to use those in chemistry class in high school. :) You can probably find them almost anywhere, including a Walmart pharmacy. Best of Luck
Yes, that would work fine but it would taste horrible. I do not swallow pills with water that is when I feel them going down and gag on them. Milk is the best choice because it is thick so you won't feel them going down as much. You should try that before you empty pills into water. You could also do this thing called parachuting.. I think it's just something people do with drugs but it would work for you also. They break up the pill place it in a small piece of tissue and swallow the tissue. That way it isn't a hard pill. Make sure to drink it down with a beverage even after you've swallowed them just to make sure they haven't gotten stuck in your throat.
Why can't you? Why not just wrap them in something? It depends on what the pill is, if you is something time released then its not a good idea. Really if it were meant to be taken as a powder, it would be a powder.
It depends. There are some medications that are time released that you absolutely should not be crushing or splitting, you must take them whole. These usually have a warning about that on the prescription information or better yet check with your doc. You can buy pill splitters and pill crushers at your pharmacy.
It depends upon the drug. Some drugs cannot be crushed, and that information should be in the pile of usage notes included with the prescription or on the package for over-the-counter drugs. Yes they still sell pill crushers and splitters, and if you have a kitchen mortar and pestle for grinding spices that would work as well. If you have a drinking buddy who can get you a muddler (a device usually used by bar tenders for grinding things like mint leaves) that would also work. You might also ask your physician if the drug can be prescribed in liquid form
