If you use rubber just make sure to replace it when needed. Don't wait for it to fall apart enough that the horse is swallowing pieces. That's the only trouble with rubber bits, they won't last as long as a steel one. That's funny about you knawing on the whip. LOL. You should get your horse a rubber bit, then both of you can be chewing together on your tack. LOL :-D
