Question:

I feel electric shocks from drinking lime water?

Drank 4 cups of it earlier today for breakfast, now I just served myself a glass of lime water and took a sip and felt a shock down my body. Why?

Answer:

I lived in Miami, got pink eye and couldn't afford to go to the Dr. All my latina friends said back home everyone just used lemon or lime juice and that cured it. I did it. YEAH IT HURTS BAD for a few seconds. Cured in a day no problem.
OMG okorder
I am not a doctor but I have had pink eye three times in the last few years and lime always works. Yes it stings, but if you do the process a few times a day the pink eye will go away faster. Going to the doctor for pink eye is really annoying because you have to put that stupid ointment in your eye for a week and it takes just that long to clear up. I find that the lime works great and if you did right from the beginning even better. As for the science, check the answer below.
Been doing it for 20 years and gets rid of pink eye fast. I guess all the times i have had it has been a bacterial infection. Bacteria that causes pink eye cannot live in an acidic environment. You got to have the gull to do it do but the stinging last for about 30 seconds. Better than doctor's eye drops that can take a week or so instead of 1- 3 days with lemon drops. I usually do one drop 2-3 times a day up to 2 days. if it hasn't improved by then, I would go to see a doctor but I have never had to. usually better the 2 day and then let my body do the rest. That is just me, though.
Don't believe everything you read - check the sources (make sure they are from a trustworthy medical source). You should not ever put juice or citric acid into your eyes, unless you want to harm yourself. Secondly, both lime and lemon juice cannot be used to cure the infection or ameliorate the pains associated with pink eye. Causes of pink eye: * Viruses * Bacteria * Allergies * A chemical splash in the eye * A foreign object in the eye Treatments and drugs By Mayo Clinic staff Bacterial conjunctivitis If your infection is bacterial, your doctor may prescribe antibiotic eyedrops as pink eye treatment, and the infection should clear within several days. Antibiotic eye ointment, in place of eyedrops, is sometimes prescribed for treating bacterial pink eye in children. An ointment is often easier to administer to an infant or young child than are eyedrops, though they may blur vision for up to 20 minutes after application. With either form of medication, you should notice a marked improvement in signs and symptoms within one to two days. Be sure to use the medication for the entire time your doctor prescribes it, to prevent recurrence of the infection. Viral conjunctivitis Viral conjunctivitis doesn't respond to treatment with antibiotic eyedrops or ointment. Like with a common cold, you can use an over-the-counter remedy to relieve some symptoms, but the virus just has to run its course. You may notice a worsening of symptoms in the first three to five days. After that, your signs and symptoms should gradually clear on their own. It may take up to two to three weeks from the time you were infected for the virus to go away. Allergic conjunctivitis If the irritation is allergic conjunctivitis, your doctor may prescribe one of many different types of eyedrops. These may include antihistamines, decongestants, mast cell stabilizers, steroids and anti-inflammatory drops.
