Question:

I have a 413 in my 1972 motor home ,is it necessary I use a lead additive in my gas to prevent engine damage?

I have been told the valves will be ruined otherwise. Is this true,or can this be remedied an alternate way?

Answer:

PREMIUM gas and lead additive if U want to keep it running.
around that time dodge was looking into unleaded fuels(before my time so exact time im not sure).if you dont see an unleaded fuel only, then you should.its yellow always you know the one im talking about even if you dont recall seeing it, its on everything these days. if the engine has been overhauled, chances are the heads have been updated.if not use the addy
The 413 needs to have hardened valves and seats installed to run on un leaded fuel. The lead in leaded gas helped to cool them, without the additive, you'll burn a valve or seat.
