Question:

I have an electric lawn mower, are there battery packs available for such a lawn mower?

I have an electric lawn mower. I love that its 'green', but to run the mower, I have to plug it in to a huge extension cord. I have a small yard, but I wish I could find a rechargeable battery pack or something for it. Are there rechargeable batteries that I could plug my mower into?

Answer:

You'd have to get a mower that is specifically designed to have a rechargeable battery pack. Black Decker, Toro, Ariens, and other manufacturer make them. You can't get a pack that you can plug your existing electric mower into. (If your yard is small enough, get an unpowered push mower. That's the greenest of all!) .
There are lawnmowers that run off batteries, I have one, but if yours plugs into a wall outlet then it runs on 110 volts and they don't make 110v batteries so you would need a transformer to change the voltage, you'd need some way to attach a battery and transformer to the lawnmower. I think this would be complicated to do if it's possible at all, and probably more expensive all around than buying a mower made to operate on a battery.
Yes there are different options to choose from nowadays for your electric mower. I'm looking for one myself being that I have to mow a big yard with mine where there is no electricity. To the answers so far, you are not helping the person who asked the question. Why do people judge? Just answer the question or don't say anything at all in their feed. There are portable power inverters that will work as long as you have the right one. In my research I found this page. There are lots of YouTube videos on the subject as well. @Hondu Yes you can if you do some research to learn how and do the work, but yes you can modify mowers, or anything that runs with a motor. Your answer is one of those discriminating against education to the person asking, of which is not helpful, and only talking down to the person. It's not about spending money either. Let people decide on their own, if they want to spend their money or not on their own project. They might like to for the fun of doing it anyways.
Electric Lawn Mower Battery
You cannot convert a 110v mower to, in most cases, an eighteen volt battery pack type without an entirely different motor and spending much more money than the mower is worth. Gotta question for you. What is so green about electricity? That electricity has to be generated somehow. Diesel and coal burning plants, or water power with enormous dams that obstruct waterways and kill wildlife, timber cleared and graded right of ways for power lines, giant oil and pcb filled transformer and substations that were all built with heavy hydrocarbon emitting equipment and still maintained with more of the same equipment. All of the materials for this fine grid of green had to be logged, mined or drilled for. Even solar and wind power stations didn't just bloom there. Sorry, you are an innocent victim of my diatribe, but in spite of what the power companies like to spout, and once electricity is generated and delivered it doesn't cause anymore pollutants, at least as we know now, it still isn't green.
