Last week I went to a mechanic and he said it might be a blown head gasket. He told me to try the bars stop leak, I followed instructions and it has slowed the leak but nowhere near stopped it. Is it safe to use another bottle? It has only been 6 days. Also whenever I use the defroster there is a greenish film on the inside of the windows so I was thinking it might be something with the heater core? Any suggestions? On the car I have it would cost more to get fixed than the car is worth and I can‘t save up for another car for a long while.
to much stop leak will clog your heater core and rad to a certain extent.the mechanic you took it to should retake his test,,,,a blown head gasket or a fcracked head will showup with a simple compession testthe heater core or any fluid leak is tested with .its a rad cap with a pump and pressure guage.its a tool you pump it up to 14 or 15 lbs and it should hold thereif it doesnt.you have a leak somewhere i9n your system,,,,,,,feel your carpet on the passenger side up highif its wet or if you are losing fluid you found the problem
Stay away from that moron. Bars stop leak for a blown head gasket is ridiculous. Take the hoses off the heater core connections under the hood and bypass the core by hooking them to a pipe of copper tube. That should stop the leak and let the system pressurize. Replacing that core is a real bear in that vehicle.
