She has a problem. While Scientology certainly *is* a religion, their position is that Dianetics is a scientific theory of mental health, and is unrelated to their religious beliefs. They argue, therefore, that for a Scientology's to require his employees to read it is simply to make them better balanced individuals and therefore better employees, and is not religious in nature. One might disagree (and I certainly do), but the problem is that the Church of Scientology WILL support her bosses attempt to do this. Scientology's legal department is large, well-funded, and utterly conscienceless. They will drag any case on for years, at costs far in excess of where any rational lawyer would tell his client to cut his losses and make a settlement offer, to avoid a court ruling against them. My advice. she's been lucky enough to discover that her potential employer was wacko right at the beginning. Walk away with relief. EDIT - to Robert L. This is NOT a civil rights issue.
