Question:

I'm heating one tank with a ceramic emitter, wanting to raise temp?

I've got a 20g long; 3/4 of the screen lid is covered with aluminum tapeI have a 60w ceramic emitter in a 5.5 lampI'd like to bring the temps up some (without upping the wattage)Would a larger diameter lamp help? Put a coating on the inside of lamp to focus heat down instead of absorption?Yesmy temps are safeNo the species is not relevantYes I know I could up the wattage.I'm asking if a larger lamp would help and/or a coating on the inside of lamp to focus heat down.

Answer:

Synthetic yarns melt, don't feltYou can try a loosely bound bamboo, Bernat has someThey are expensive but bamboo is easily replenishable and, I think, rival baby soft yarns for comfort.
Hello, out of interest are you aware that the computer/laptop you are using is made of toxic chemical plastics that break down into the atmosphere and absorb into the bodyA lot if us make little steps to help the Earth in many waysFor example, I use soap nuts to wash my clothes and eco friendly hygiene and beauty productsI dispose if my rubbish and recycling appropriately, and I eat meat no more than twice a weekLittle changes, alot of us don't want to go the whole hog but we take it upon ourselves to make these little changes - WITHOUT know it all hippies preachingMy cat kills miceMy first cat killed frogs, mice and birdsDidn't like the taste of frogs muchAlso, synthetic taurine is against the hippies against chemicals ethosBut that's a whole different conversationMy point is get off the high horseCats (and some dogs) will kill things and eat meat no matter what we feed them.
may try putting some aluminum foil on the sides of the tank or drop the lamp a inch or so if thats an option coating will not help it will make it worsebut a bigger lamp will just use the same bulb .may end up using a less watt bulb if you find a bigger lampyou could modify the 1 you have with some sheet metal and a few zip screws - good luck with your project
