idk i looked it up on google i couldnt find anything but i think it works somewhat close to this, whenever you have current passing through a conductor with little resistance, it will heat up, so i suppose they have some material in there that heats up when current passes through it. i noe this sounds dumb since copper conductors have little resistance yet they dont heat up, but i know it has something to do with the material inside the iron and i know that it requires little resistance so that it allows more current to pass through which will have more electrons(electricity) colliding with the conductor's atoms and create friction(heat)
