I have a 2005 Jaguar S Type 3.0 6 cyl. and need PS additive to take out the squeak and I can not find it anywhere online!I DO NOT live anywhere near an auto parts store and MUST order this online.Thx!
You may be looking for the wrong thing. A power steering pump that has fluid in it should not squeak. Try something called Belt Dressing, or simply tighten the belt some.
In addition to what tootall wrote regarding the belt squeaking, a seriously overlooked service is the power steering pump fluid. That should be changed like any fluid for a number of reasons. This can be done by a novice using a turkey baster reinforced with a hose clamp so the bulb doesn't slide off, and using it to suction out the old dirty fluid. Then refill with the correct spec power steering fluid [refer to owner's manual] which is probably related to Ford fluid, drive, then repeat the process several times until the PS fluid is mostly clear. A dealer will remove one hose and drain the system. You then must be sure to remove all air which pretty much will happen when your drive/turn the wheel, then refill. Like burping it. An additive will not remove the particles suspended in the fluid which in turn cause wear on seals and the rack and pinion leading to costly rebuilds. Better to RR the old abrasive fluid, not use an additive.
No Problem! I know you mentioned that you do not live anywhere near an auto parts store, but that does not mean you can not buy online at Autozone. :) Lucas Oil/Power steering fluid with conditioners will be your best choice. $8.49 each + Shipping Cost (Expensive but good)
