I need to adjust an exterior metal door that is out of alignment. How do I adjust?
The frame may be put in warped.
I would give it a good look over..Perhaps a hinge is loose or worn..sometimes you can shim up one or the other for alignment. If the door is sprung a bit..put a block in the top or bottom push on the opposite.
close the door well then remove the screws leaving one in the middle of each side. then lift the side that is out. if the door wont close then the frame needs to go down. and if it IS a storm door that is . if that dont work then the door might have slung open to far and bent the henge . If you think this is the problem you will need to remove the door completely . Take some pencils and lay then were the door frame comes together on the henge then force the henge back into place with some vice grips and a few well placed hits of a hammer
