Question:

I spilled fuel injector additive on my car floor. I have tried to clean up but my car still smells. Help?

I spilled fuel injector additive on my car floor. The additive spilled on the driver side floor. My trunk and gas levers were affected and I believe it might have spilled below the carpet (through the carpet hole). Unfortunately there is a very nasty smell and I have tried various methods to clean up but the car still smells like fuel addative. Please help!

Answer:

Chances are it leeched through the carpet and into the sound absorbtion material below. You can try to lift up the carpet and place foil over the spill area or something that will not deteriorate from the petroleum in the additive. Eventually, the odor will dissipate. If it is a a difficult spot to get to, steam cleaning might help. You can always place a rubber floormat over the area for a few weeks or a period of time Good luck to you
Daughter, pictures, guitar. In that order.
Laptop, Roberto my fish, a fire extinguisher. I wont let my home go down without a fight!
You might have to live with it for a while until it evaporates. It would help a lot if you could open the doors and trunk, place a window fan near enough to shoot lots of air through the interior, and let it run.
well being that my house almost burnt down in the california wildfires, I have all the things of importance packed in a special place.
