I want to a paint an old dresser for my new room, I need tips on painting and color ideas?

The walls in my room are lavender, and alot of my stuff is darker purple, like a plum-ish. I've never painted anything before, so I need to know what type of paint to use, if there's anything I should do to it before painting it, etc. I also need color/design ideas. I wanted something classic, like creamy white (maybe with lavender edges?), but I'm not sure..The dresser looks like this, but very dark brown:

Are you speaking of a Semi-Auto? How about you tell us the make model of the gun? If its a semi-auto, the pin that has a knurled edge and typically goes through one side of the frame, through the bottom oval opening on the barrel and out the other side, its called a slide stop.
The rods conduct the charge to the ground with little resistance, thus heat does not build up in the rod. Even though the bolt temperature is very high it lasts for less than a second, thus the rod usually only gets pitted by this momentary high heat.
