Question:

I want to bleach a bright white dress that is polyester and spandex because it has a pink mark on it.?

But it says Do Not Bleach. I‘ve tried washing with stain removers and such, but I just don‘t know what else to do besides bleaching the mark out. I‘m not sure what the stain is, but it is pink (could be makeup, cranberry juice, pen, etc.) What will happen if I bleach the dress? Could I put a tiny spot of bleach just over where the stain is? I‘d rather keep the little pink mark than ruin the dress, but figured I should reach out to those who know more than me about this before giving up.The dress is 90% polyester and 10% spandex.

Answer:

It will probably turn yellow. If it's ink, the best thing to do is spray with canned hairspray and wash out. Most other stains can be taken out of it if you make a paste of Oxi-Clean and let it sit on it and scrub it in some then wait. I did this with a few stains it works well. Some stains took hours to release before I washed the item
Polyester yellows in bleach. Bleach it and you'll ruin it. Mix up some oxyclean and warm water and soak the dress in it for an hour or 2. Then swish it around and hand rub the spot and I'll bet the stain comes out. I used to use bleach for certain things until I discovered Oxyclean. Now I save the bleach for dish cloths only to remove the bacteria. Everything else gets treated with Oxyclean. It does a better job on stains and is easier in your clothes
I will NEVER EVER use a Bleach on such dress. I use Nature Bright by Shaklee. Totally environmentally safe without harsh chemicals and works like a charm.
