I need to drill into the doorframe which is pre fabricated pressed metal and I don't want to drill into the electrical wires . Is there any chance I could drill into them .
no wires in a frame,, but go to walmart and get one of the less than $10 circuit testers and run it along the area you want to drill,, it will beep if there is any wires there!!
well when you feal dead then you will know. lol sorry i jest had to dude
you shouldn't have any wires in the door frame
Unless the people who built and wired your house were completely stoned at the time, there should not be any wires immediately around the door frame. If there is a switch or outlet near the door, the wire most likely runs up or down the stud in the wall to which the junction box is attached, not sideways toward the door.
you should have two 2x4s on both sides of the doorway and a header at the top. If you look where your light switches are, they should be four to four and one half Inch from the inside of the door jam. That's where the wires run through the ceiling and from the floor. So the answer is that you can drill as many holes in your door jam as you want.
