Answer:

i'm not sure i understand your questionwhen i made my counter tops i purchased a beveled edge of matching laminate and glued it on before i installed themi used duct tape to hold them in place while i put on the clampsif your counter top is already installed you could apply glue (yellow wood glue is fine ) and use a brad nailer to hold it in place until the glue driesfill the nail holes with a matching putty and your done.
You really don't need to use it if your countertop only has a 1/4 in overhang. Most countertops over hang 3/4 to1 in.
If there is one thing I am certain about, is the granite fabricator will want to do his own measurements and make templates on top of the cabinetsThere is no substitution for this and you should not resist this approachSlabs of granite are about a $1,000 each say about $75 per square foot installed so a mistake in layout can be thousands of dollarsGo to fabricators and see which suppliers they use, pick you granite by picking the particular slabs that will be installed, hold on to you wallet and ask the fabricator for a priceFigure about $5K for a small kitchenGot to have a new sink tooAn underhung stainless sink with a quality faucet installed is about $1K.
