I want to start crocheting, what do I need to buy to start?

I'm going to Wal-mart tomorrow and I want to know what to buy to start; also what is better Crocheting or knitting, I would like when I get better to make throws and pillow covers what is better? Thank you for your help!

Answer:

fiber is important in animal feed just as you need fiber in your diet
You need a crochet needle, one to three skeins of yarn and instruction bookletI would recommend getting 3 size needles, g,h and II have seen them come in a 3 pack beforeThe reason I say this is you need to practice your gaugeI have been crocheting for 44 years and I still have to adjust my gauge because I crochet too tightly so I have to use a larger needleEach instruction will tell you how many stitches you should get per inch as well as how many rowsAlso, Coats and Clark, Sugar N Cream or Peaches N Cream put out a small 5 by 7 inch beginner book that is really goodIt is good to start practicing your chain, then your single crochet and so onA dish cloth or scarf should be your first project.
Dietary fibre is the part of plant material consisting mainly of cellulosic and non-cellulosic polysaccharides, and a non-carbohydrate component, ligninThese components are highly resistant to hydrolysis by alimentary enzymes and cannot, therefore, be digested or absorbed in the blood stream.
Sheep need lots of fibre to keep the rumen healthyThis has been established empirically long before it was demonstrated by any reasons that it is soWhat we can observe is that feeding sheep on a lot of barley, which provides a lot more energy per cumetre does not keep a sheep's rumen healthyBut adding some barley to good legume hay works well.
Bohemian gave you a very good answer, everything she said is right, but it is incompleteSheep like cattle are rumens they have four stomachs, not one like us and other simple stomach animalsThe first stomach is the rumen, which is a big fermentation vat that she referred toThe main purpose of the rumen is to enable the bacteria present to digest fiberThat is why a sheep can live and do well on nothing but grass and/or hayWhere a hog, a simple stomach animal, would starve on the same rationFiber is important for the bulk in any animals feed to make them feel fullIn a simple stomach animal most fiber does pass right through undigested, but for your sheep a large portion of this fiber is digested to provide the main portion of their nutritionThe quality of the fiber is also very importantFor example sheep will do well on good alfalfa hay because the quality of the fiber is more digestible than if they had a diet of all straw, still mostly fiber, but of poor quality and less digestibleSo in your sheep feed fiber is a lot more important than just for bulk, and it all does not come back outGood luck.
