I cut the stock wiring harness under the dash in the middle console, and we are having problems with transmission shifting, and many other electrical problems can they all be related?I know the transmission thing sounds far-fetched, but while messing with the wires, ti can turn on or off the Overdrive dash light. so i didnt know if it could be messing with the shifting of the transmission.
depending on what is wired in the same circuit with that stereo wire harness. you may have already shorted out the computer in the car. most automotive techs dont know much about the wires for a radio and most MECP dont know much about the computer for the auto. yes it could be a problem if the transmission is controlled shifting by the car's ecu.
Yes. Sometimes other components of a vehicle are wired through the stereo. Usually it's the vents and fans, but it wouldn't surprise me if other things were on that circuit for other cars. Thats why it is important to not just clip off the wiring harness. You should get a harness to plug into the factory harness so that none of the extra circuits end up with no connection.
You didn't say what kind of Car, but yes, it is entirely possible.Do you still have the original harness and Factory Radio ? Is there any way that you can put it back together ? The best way to find out would be to get a Haynes Manual for your Car, for about $15, from an Auto Parts Store, and go to the very back of the Book, to the wiring section, and trace it down.If you can do it yourself, you'll save a lot of money, because an Auto Electrical Shop is going to charge a bundle to come behind you on this !
