Question:

if main water is off does it affect boiler?

if main water is off does it affect boiler?

Answer:

The only way the boiler would be affected is if there is a water leak in your system. If there is, that will create a void (air pocket). When a boiler is working and there is a void. steam is created. Then there's a problem. The water circulation system is NOT designed to handle steam. Steam will rupture the pipes. Check your water level gauge. Make sure the water level doesn't change. If it doesn't, you're fine. If it drops,, you have a leak somewhere. Turn off the boiler. If you do have a leak and you elect to keep your boiler running., make sure your household insurance is paid up and your family is out of the house. A boiler explosion can blow up your house and injure people inside.
if its going to be a long time before the water to the boiler is on and it is being drawn out of the boiler shut it down
