Battery replacement normally costs around $7.00 for one detector when the whole thing is $10.00. Replace with new. You cannot go wrong with extra, especially around bedrooms and just outside kitchen areas. Try this for an experiment; blindfold a family member, ( the smoke makes using your eyes impossible ), and see how long it takes for them to get out. Can they get out? Are the door keys to hand?
