i wouls say thicker plywood but why would u want to put hot water thru aluminum channels under a vinyl floor anyway?.u could chance warping the vinyl then have to replace it all
all flooring should be 3/4 thiccnaything less will not lastit will warp and wobbleyou could use the 1/4 plywood and on top of it 1/2 rockboard then the vinylas long as the sum is 3/4
The 1/4 inch plywood will flex too much and you will be walking on a spongePut 5/8 MDF and then your vinyl flooring.
