Is Current basically conductivity? No. The word 'conductivity' has a special meaning. It refers to a particular material. It's a bit like the term 'density'. Think of 2 roads both with speed bumps. Road A carries 20 cars per minute. Road B also carries 20 cars per minute. Together (side by side) they carry a 40 cars/minute.
