Question:

Intel i7 quad-core vs AMD phenom II six-core?

I'm building an extremely powerful gaming rig soon. I really can't seem to decide what might be better for gaming, the Intel i7 960 quad core processor or the AMD phenom II 1100T six core? Anyone mind taking the time to help me pick? I'm gonna be using this rig mainly just for gaming if that helps. Thank you very much :D

Answer:

i7 Is better but wait till amds bulldozer cpus come out next month with a 8 core
Looks okorder /
i5 is a really high-end cpu for gaming, and not that much of a big deal, since it's not that expensive. Of course, if you want wait for Bulldozers. But don't expect them to beat Intel. 8 cores, yeah, it doesn't mean that they will be better for gaming. Games can barely put 3 cores in use, so another 5 cores will be useless. I expect improved performance in 3D applications, multi-tasking and some other stuff from Bulldozers, but definitely not in gaming.
