Is a boiler as good as gas to heat a house? How does it work?Is it expensive to repair?

Answer:

yes and boilers are much more expensive, and expensive to repair
A boiler has its advantages and disadvantages. How it works and repairs depends on the type of unit. For complete info, check out the boilers page at my source.
A boiler with in-floor heating is the best way to heat your house. It is easier to heat a structure and keep it warm the just heating the air. Your feet are the thermostat to your body, if you keep them warm then you stay warm. It does cost more to install a boiler with in-floor heat, but you save lots of money in the long run. The cost of repairing any heating system these day cost lots. Boilers are the way to go
Gas is just the fuel. A boiler heats water into steam or just hot water and circulates it throughout the house. Boilers can be coal, wood, oil, or gas and just about any other type of fuel. The most common are oil gas. Gas is a great heat, usually a little less than oil/BTU but you must buy it from the supplier that connects it to your house. One of my favorite things about gas is that it can also be produced from rotting garbage, so we will never run out of it. Also we aren't keeping the Arabs in there lavish lifestyles. Water heat is a comfortable heat. The down side to boilers over hot air heat is the initial expense. A boiler runs about three times what a hot air furnace does.
