Wait til they are olderThere are much better ways to spend time outdoors with your children I took my daughter camping a couple of times, in a backyard, with familyIt suckedThe smoke from the camp fire made her sick, she got all sorts of bug bitesAt 18mos a child is not old enough for bug screen that actually works, same with sunscreen And when she was 3 she got into poison ivy when we took her to a campgroundShe had to go pee at 6am but wouldn't go in the bushesSo we had to find the restroom at 6amThat time it was raining and she got sick.
Depends on what sort of camping you are doingMy hubby, son and me go car camping once a year for a weekYou'll need food, drink, portable stove, tent, sleeping bags, mattress, all the usual baby/toddler stuff, toiletries, kitchen utensils, plates and cutlery, rug, sunscreen, bug spray/repellent, toysEDIT: Just ignore greatdialupShe wasn't preparedOur son was 4 months when we first went camping and 2 yrs the second timeBoth times were great and went off without a problem:)

tent large enough for a pack n playI always bring sand toys so my toddler can dig and get messyAn extra supply of baby wipesRemember there is no sink to wash little hands and faces in when campingMake sure you have enough ice to keep milk cold for the toddler.I would suggest lunch ables as snacks because they work great for kids when campingAlso bottled water and I bring caprisuns to make life easierTrash bags as of course you are going to use much more trash with kidsMake sure you bring clothes for every type of weather just in case and I like lightweight long sleeves during the day as it helps keep kids Comfy and more clean come bedtimeChairs one for each member of the familyA flash light and a lanternI would suggest and air mattress as sleeping on the ground sucksthat's just some of it but those are the little extras that make my life easier and we camp a lot.
