Question:

Is color change necessary for alodine to be effective on Alclad aluminum?

Bare aluminum readily changes color when alodinedAlclad aluminum changes color very little, and the color change is non-uniformDoes the process produce useful corrosion protection despite lack of color change? Or am I wasting my time trying to treat Alclad?

Answer:

not a really good oneyou should try sallys
mostly any ceramic one.try sally's
Alclad should not need corrosion protection if the surface is in good shapeIt has by design a corrosion resistant surfaceIf you must protect it with alodine, acid etch it first with Alumiprep, then alodine without letting it dryHow long you leave each product on the aluminum is kind of trial and error, best do some more research on it.
