Question:

Is copper pipes into a terrapin tank harmful to my soft shell terrapin?

Hi, i've recently bought a new filter which would stand outside my soft shelled terrapin's tank, but have pipes going into it. The problem with the soft plastic pipes is that he keeps pushing them out of the water so they become ineffective. i was wondering using copper pipes instead, because they would be rigid, easy to solder, etc. But, would this be harmful to him because of the traces of copper the pipes may leave behind? i know it's harmful to fish, but for terrapins i can't find any reference to anything like it on the internet. thanks!

Answer:

Unless you have extremely acid water, there probably won't be any problem.
complex stuff. lookup into google. that will could actually help!
The pipes should be fine, copper is not known to leach at all and most of our water pipes are composed of it.
