Question:

Is Copper Safe harmful to guppy fry?

Well I have three female guppies, one with persistant ich, I have already tried a couple other remedies in addition to salt, and raising the temp. I called an aquarium store, and they said copper safe would not harm the fry when they are born, but when I called the company, they said that it was not "reccomended" for fry. Has anyone else ever had to treat a tank with copper right before their guppy gave birth?

Answer:

DONT USE COPPER SAFE!!! what ever you do dont use it. why? one the company just verified that it is not safe. and i agree with the company. copper safe is VERY powerful and even using just a smidge of it can harm ur tank. honestly dont understand why its still in the market. it is really harsh stuff and half the time there is always another remedy or treatment that will do the same thing as copper safe and yet still be safe for your tank. what temp did you crank your tank to? it should be around 82-84 if you want to killl the ich off quickly. and how much salt did you put in? need to make sure you only added one teaspoon of salt per five gallons of water.and if you are going to do any treatment, your safest bet then would be using RID-ICH form KORDON. and just use half a dose. its safe for most situations. and just as a notecopper safe is not exactly safe. go figure. . . anyways if u used copper safe, it can linger in your tank for up to a year! and it would be near impossible to keep live plants and scaless fish in your tank after the treament.
It probably is harmful. Copper safe is powerful. Have you tried other treatments like quick cure? Better safe than sorry. If you do decide to use it, I recommend using less than half the dose instructed.
